There is no denying that becoming involved in the Yelp community has been the best thing I’ve done since moving to Denver. Forget being a wife! Forget meeting new friends! It’s all about YELP baby!
On Sunday, Tiffany and I went to Yelp’s Crafternoon Brew HaHa event. Basically you got to taste beers from all these local breweries while making buttons, book marks, and koozies! Crafting and crafting (the beer kind) for FREE? Oh heck yes I’ll be there.
They gave us this lil glass cup/sipper/thingy to use throughout the event.
**Honestly I don’t really drink so I’m not going to “critique” the breweries…I was just there for the food…yes you can eye roll but at least I’m honest**
Kind Bars were there! I screamed. I love these bars and at over $1 a piece I was happy to snag some free ones!
Vienna Beef gave us free Chicago dogs and fries.
Colorado Cider was my favorite! I love ciders more than beer and these had so much flavor!
Baker St. Pretzels had this demo pretzel. Guy photo-bombed me but I got to take a regular sized warm soft pretzel to go.
Frills Cake Shop offered 3 different cupcake flavors! Apple cider, hot chocolate, and chocolate oatmeal stout. Honestly I’m glad I arrived early cause the cupcakes were gone after the first hour!
Buenos Aires Pizzeria brought their flakey warm empanadas! I had the spinach and cheese one and it was so tasty! I want more!
Not only was there unlimited local beer, food, and music but we got to take home the kind bars, popchips, and honest tea!
Just when you think DAMNNN GIRLLLLL so much free stuff! I got the chance to go to one of my favorite things…a Broadway show!
Elite Yelpers were given the opportunity to attend American Idiot on open night.
American Idiot is based on the album from Green Day….so yes, my high school punk self (I was a wannabe) was happy. It was so interesting to hear Green Day songs sung “Broadway” style by the whole cast. Made me remember how “deep” some of their lyrics could be…as well as political.
The story? Um…I didn’t get it…the main characters tried to “find” themselves in the big city but realized home is where it’s at? I ended up just sitting back and enjoying the music. Between each song the characters had like only 3 lines! No way to develop characters or a story.
But I was so impressed with the cast! There was a live band on stage and the WHOLE cast played guitars throughout the show. Also, the men had hott bodies.
It was my first time attending a musical in Denver and I had a great time. This show isn’t for everyone though. If you are old, sensitive to loud noises, or do not appreciate the middle finger and grinding on stage SKIP THIS. Also there is no intermission so don’t drink a liter of fluid preshow.
But the musical talents of the performers and my love for some of Green Day’s songs came flooding back! By the way, they are making this show into a movie.
We were actually invited to the after party but since my bedtime is at 10 and I would probably be a creeper in the corner of the bar, we decided to go home.
If you are bored, here is my favorite song.
Hell ya I’m emo!
Thanks Yelp for beer, crafts, and a chance to see American Idiot!

Okay, so how does one become an ELITE Yelper? I want in!!
And I would totally go see American Idiot- I think it sounds awesome (and have been a Green Day lover since eighth grade!)
Jealous of the free beer! You need to start guzzling it down!
I’m not a big fan of plays/musicals. Neither is Dave so I guess we’ll miss out on it together. I didn’t know there were after parties for that stuff. But I’m an old fart too & go to bed at 9
I’m dying to see American Idiot.
I need to Yelp more often so I can go to fun events like this!
I want to see American Idiot!!!
ahhh – so sad i missed crafternoon delight!
looks fun! did you make any crafts? and chocolate oatmeal stout cupcakes = speaking my cupcake language
I have been DYING to see American Idiot for years now. And it also totally takes me back to the day. And I don’t judge you too harshly for going for the food, I am totally the same. We went to a microbrewery/restaurant last week and I preferred Bud Light over their craft beers (oops).
Hah maybe I need to get into this Yelping biznazz. I’m super excited! I’m seeing Beauty and the Beast this month and Wicked next month. It’s actually my first time seeing Broadway live, and I’m going 2 for 2 haha.
You’re from Denver!
Looks like a fun evening. I love musicals although I might be considered to old for that one – I was definitely a wannabe too back in the day!
