Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend! Glenn and I had the same day off (for once!) so along with Allison, we ran around town doing various things.
After a fabulous lunch at Japoix (Glenn wasn’t impressed but I could give birth to male twins and he wouldn’t bat an eye), we hit up a little German Christmas fair!
Denver Christkindl Market is in downtown Denver and since Allison loves her German heritage, I thought it would be fun to browse around….browse around meaning secretly wanna eat bratwurst and pretzels till I burst.
This little band played Christmas music! They also looked miserable too…maybe cause I rudely took pictures of them in unflattering angles.
Smoked salmon galore! They also had spitzel, bratwurst, sandwiches, beer, and German wine!
I wish we didn’t eat before we came here. Who doesn’t like pretzels the size of your face?!
Cute little wooden ornaments were sold. They were only 2 bucks a piece!
Since I’m a cheesy girl, I ended up getting this Colorado one since it’s going to be our first Christmas here. ::insert awwwwwww::
I guess Russian dolls are a German thing? I don’t know geography or history so I’ll move on….but seriously these were hand painted and the cutest things! Too bad they were a bit pricey. Glenn told me to just stick it in my purse.
We did end up ordering some Dutch pancakes. Dutch pancakes=mini pancakes. We topped ours with powdered sugar and butter. So warm and sweet!
The Christkindl Market was TINY but it had just enough stuff to browse around for an hour or so. It was actually better than Oktoberfest this year!
Sorry this picture is a hott mess but there is free ice skating downtown as well! It was pretty small and the rink was full but it’s such a great place to take your kids.
Since Allison got a snowboard that needed waxing (yet another thing I know nothing about), we hit up REI. This place is HUGE. I’m talking a full size Starbucks is in here…
As well as rock climbing in the middle of the freaking store.
Since I’m such a cheap bargain queen, we found these SWEET danskos (which usually are AT LEAST $150 bucks) for only $50!!! I foamed at the mouth and Glenn walked away in these comfortable shoes! Danskos are not fashionable but they are hella comfy.
Then we trekked over to Goodwill where I found this paperback for 99 cents.
I LOVE Judy Blume. “Are you there God? It’s me Margaret” was the first book I read that made me think about wanting to get my period. TMI but true. Let’s see if her book for adults will be good!
Anyways, off to work. Too many days off last week=busy week up ahead.
Are you guys doing anything to get into the Christmas spirit? Eating pumpkin sh*t doesn’t count!

aren’t little markets like this the best?! i’m a sucker for ornaments too!
hooray for time off together to venture out and explore-my bf & i did the same thing this weekend! cheers!
Yum those Dutch pancakes look great. I love festivals like that. Enjoy your first Christmas in CO! Hope it’s a white one!
I’ve gone to Japoix like a zillion times (usually to get booze faced), but I still haven’t gone for brunch. What did you get?
saving it for another blog post! hahaha
Lolllzzz @ Glenn. Yea, those Russian Dolls are a German thing. My uncle was in Germany for awhile and brought back one for me when I was younger. It’s kinda creepy…I mean, a girl within a girl, within a girl…haha
I love those mini pancakes! And awwwwww on the ornament, but I can’t make fun of you…I would do the exact same thing. Right now we mostly have generic balls on our tree, but I want to swap them out with meaningful ones.
I love Judy Bloom too – I read that book! My favourite is “Just as Long as We’re Together.” When I was in elementary school I read that book about 43 times.
what a cute festival. holla to my germans! perhaps thats why i love sausage so much…and the twisty-ness of pretzels…just put 2 and 2 together…
put up a tree and decorated w/ my ornaments i’ve accumulated throughout my life, and been rockin out to christmas music since thanksgiving, singing my lungs out. badly. i’ve been eating sweets out the wazoo, too. not good for my ass. tis that season?
Did I miss this festival? Shoooooooot!!!! I love poffertjes (the little Dutch pancakes) I always work weekends so I feel like I miss out on all the cool events in Denver.
