I was inspired by Jenny’s and Melissa’s posts and decided to write a little thank you to my friends and to my old and future self.
I’ve been so emotional lately and I’m sure some of my up and down posts reflect that. I have to remember to take each day at a time and forget feeling this insane amount of guilt in everything I do: guilt in being BLUNT or harsh to my friends or coworkers, guilt for eating something, guilt for not working out, guilt for choosing to sit my a$$ in front of the tv instead of calling a friend, guilt for thinking mean thoughts…
I need to shake off this guilt and thank my lucky stars for the people in my life. Each person has shaped who I am now and who I will be…
I do miss the days from years ago when GUILT didn’t preoccupy my mind…all I cared about was dancing in my friend’s “dining” room while wearing his hunting boots…
I miss complaining about my body cause “that’s what all the girls did”…and not because I was truly UNHAPPY with how I looked…
I will be better and these negative thoughts won’t win…but for now…I want to thank my friends for always being there…
My lovely best friend Roxann
Roxann teaches me the importance of loyalty daily. She’s been my best friend for more than 10 years. She’s loyal to me no matter what comes out of my mouth or how far apart we are.
I want to thank Sara and Rebecca.
Sara taught me that being honest isn’t a bad thing…we may not be the most popular girls in our little group because of that honesty but we would never ever lie to you. Ever. For gosh sakes, she was the only one who told me that my bangs were fug!
Beca taught me the importance of having a great time in life. This girl can walk in a room and light the place up. You meet her and are instantly charmed by her warm heart…and need to boogie.
I want to thank Danny.
Danny became one of my closest friends in a span of a few months. He taught me to always enjoy life. When I asked him if I should spend 500 bucks on a lap top that’ll last me a few years or a random trip to Vegas he said “Vegas…you will live with that experience FOREVER”. Word. He enjoys life and not THINGS.
I want to thank my friend Amanda.
Amanda’s been my friend for more than 15 years. She taught me forgiveness. I was the most selfish, Gah awful friend in middle school and high school. Every decision I made only benefitted myself. I didn’t know how selfish or rude I was until we didn’t talk for a few years. Now that we are friends again, I see how her grace and the power of HER forgiveness has changed ME.
My biggest thank you goes to my wonderful boyfriend Glenn.
Glenn loves me for who I am. He taught me that love means SHOWING you daily that you love them…by doing the dishes, by hugging you, by kissing your forehead…love isn’t SAYING you love someone but it’s the ACTIONS.
So thank you friends for making me ME. I may not be perfect but I don’t claim to be..but thank you for being there for me.
The “me” that laughs at everything and enjoys life is still there…I just have to remember to kick that guilt and those negative body images away. Life’s too short to dwell on the perception of “ugly” and the number on the scale.

Oh Jesus… I would seriously love you forever if I win this.
Linking back tomorrow, and of course I will comment again.
But the thing I love about myself is that I’m persistent. If I want something I don’t stop until I get it!
hope this works. i read all of your posts all the time…commenting is proving difficult…so much to say baout the last few posts…hope your trip goes well…and i wish i could see toy story 3 with u…
right now i am holding on to some kind of faith or something…i hope that is something i can grow to love about myself.
i also love that i once stumbled into your blog.
I love your blog- it cracks me up so much. I don’t have a blog, so I can’t link…..:) The thing I love about myself is that when I want something important in my life, I stop at nothing to get it. (I think that is a good thing, but not always
)
i love myself for constantly trying new things – regardless of whether my friends or family approve – that make me happy and help me grow and also achieve my goals in life
this year i started mindful meditation and yoga and a gmat prep course.
i’ve always loved my dedication, whether it be to the environment, running, baking, being a vegetarian, etc. it’s always there to show me what kind of person i am!
Oh wow, such an AWESOME giveaway!!! I would so love to win this! Something I love about myself is my ability to put my head down and work hard. Even if I totally suck at something, at least no once can say that I didn’t try my best.
long time reader and first time commenter! you’re the first blog i check when i get up cause you crack me up. you’re seriously hilarious and i LOVE seinfeld!!! have you seen curb your enthusiasm? i’m sure you’ll love it too. the thing i love about myself is my sense of humor and how i try not to take things too seriously. life’s too short to nit-pick at everything.
i love my hands. weird? maybe. but i do. i have lonnnng skinnnny fingers. i love ‘em
Giveaways are always so fun to do. All the lurkers come out of hiding.
Great post, very uplifting. Sometimes it’s so easy to forget the important things (and people) in our lives.
One thing I love about myself is my inability to hold a grudge. I just can’t do it!! People just say that I’m too nice but personally, I think it’s because it requires too much negative energy to be mad at someone for a long time. It’s exhausting.
I love that I can laugh about anything and everything. My cousins used to make fun of me when I was little because I would find the smallest things to be funny. But as I get older, I like that I can appreciate the little things.
i love my sense of humor! i love being able to make people laugh, and even make myself laugh, need be!!
thanks for such a fun post
What a sweet post for your friends!
I love the fact that I am willing to help others at any point that I am able to!
Awe, this is one of the sweetest post I’ve ever read on your blog. It really touched my heart! It really made me happy to read this. It’s funny ’cause i was listening to one of Natasha Bedingfield’s song yesterday called HAPPY. The lyrics just stuck out to me like a sore thumb, esp. the chorus:
“Got my dreams, got my life, got my love
Got my friends got the sunshine above
Why am I making this hard on myself
When there’s so many beautiful reasons I have to be happy”
That song is for you, my friend! And it goes perfectly with this post. You have so many reasons to be thankful for. You have many reasons to be happy. This will make you happy: your blog and this post makes me happy!
Okay so on to the giveaway. I want it! Ok, so what do I love about myself….. I love that I am willing to push forward no matter what my circumstances are. I don’t let myself or others give up easily. I’ve gone through so much in life that those things helped me grow in many areas in my life. I didn’t realize that while i was going through those trials, I was being molded to be the woman I am today. I feel strong and I feel I can go through valleys and mountains. I just have to push forward when life tries to keep me down.
HEART. you are grand. i bet if we hung out more you’d be less grumples. b/c two shorties = win
[i hope you didn't mean love about my body hahaha]
um, something i love about myself?
how i take pictures all the time
my bloggerrooo is at http://www.grrfeisty.com
HOLLA.
yeaaaaaaa i am totally one of the lurkers. I don’t think I’ve ever commented, but that powered pb has intrigued me! they don’t sell it at any stores even close to where I live! pooper! And I think I’ve fulfilled my quota for exclamation marks for the day..one more! I love that I am always honest and blunt, whether or not my friends want to hear it, they know that I’m the one person who tells it how it is…I’m a realist. And let me be up front, I WILL be jelly of the reader who wins that powder…the pb powder.. obvi. Your blog is seriously hilarious, thanks for giving me a good laugh everyday
Girl, this post is just beautiful! My struggles are so similar to yours and I definitely understand how important our loved ones are to the recovery process. I am so glad you have the love and support of such beautiful friends and a wonderful boyfriend. It’s obvious that they care about you so much, and rightfully so — you are an incredible person! Thank you for this post .. it made me smile
Okay, so I’ve been a stalker of your blog for a while.
Love all the good eats on your blog!
I think the thing I love most about myself is that I am very healthy. I’ve always been healthy, usually my worst sickness is a cold. Whenever I do get sick or my body hurts it makes me realize how thankful I am for not being a sickly person!
Hi Diana
Thanks so much for the message, I will reply ASAP! What an uplifting post. It’s wonderful that you’ve taken the time to reflect on the amazing people in your life that push you to love yourself every day. You’re such an inspirational person and a hard working woman. I def. can see myself looking up to you and your accomplishments!
This is a toughie, as I don’t really think about things like this all that much (hah), but I suppose I enjoy that I’m a sensitive person that has to ability to express myself in writing…it’s an outlet for me and I think I need to take more advantage of written expression.
Have a wonderful day love
Floey.
amazing post diana! loved. it. made me all warm inside and smiley…and wishing we could meet and be bffs, ha. its so important to reflect and realize how good we have it, and i thank you for making me do that today. very much needed.
lets see…i love my work ethic, where it counts. i know where to drive my efforts, and somehow, i’ve ended up where i am today bc of it. i’m definitely not dumb, but i really need to put in the effort to get the grades, make the team, etc. i can always dig deep and find that drive. but i really love how i balance it with absolute laziness. i can spend (and often do) the entire weekend parked in front of the tv/computer/pool and have no problem with it whatsoever. sometimes we need that!
i also love my feet. and how i finish off a jar of nut butter per week. alone. so i’d like to win

I love this post, sometimes we forget about how lucky we are with friends.
I love my humps…..in the back and in the front!
Linked ya back
i love that i am super dedicated and have more willpower than most people out there : )
I heart you too Diana……and I’m glad you don’t have bangs anymore!
Awww girl, I’m glad that you did this post. I think it’s important to step back and realize all the things that we really are thankful, especially family and friends. Without them, the skinny/tone body that we “love” or really are so preoccupied with would even matter. Love you!!
And dang, I need to win this so I can FINALLY try that damn PB2 already! Haha. Or I could stop being cheap and just buy it right? Lol.
I just linked back
I love the pic of you dancing in the living room
This is such a great post!
Thanks for doing this giveaway!
One thing that I love about myself is how forgiving I am.
Terrific post! Thank you making us appreciate ourselves and give ourselves the credit we deserve!
One thing I love about myself is my thoughtfulness because doing things to make others feel good makes me feel good, too!
What I love about myself is my knowledge
haha I love my personality, talents, and positive outlook on life <3
Most of all I love the beautiful personalities of others!

And what do i love about myself? I love that im so accepting of people and their diferences.
No blog or else i’d like back =(
I’ll make sure to link back to the giveaway in the next post.
I love my quick wit. People think twice when trying to insult me. Ha.
What a sweet post – it’s so nice to see when people take the time out of their day to thank all of those who are so important. We should all do it more often!
I’d say that I love having the ability to always try to see the best in people/situations. I always say, you never really know the whole story, so try to give the benefit of the doubt.
Wow! What an awesome giveaway! I would have to say that I love my inquiring mind the most. I always want to learn more, and it’s served me well!
Aw, this is such a sweet post. I love that I’m cautious and would think things through before I commit to it. Most of the times it’s a bad thing but I rather be safe than sorry
!
I love my bones. I complain about them a lot, because they mean I will never be a supermodel, but I have never broken one! And I’ll probably never have a hunched back or arthritis or osteoperosis even when I’m 80.
About myself I love my positivity

This is such a touching post…you’re totally right, people we love are far more important than how we look. They don’t care how we look because they love us for who we really are and that’s all that matters. I think that being around these positive people is such a big help in recovery so keep them close to you because they are precious reminders that you are an amazing person..because if you weren’t, they wouldn’t be friends with you!
As for what I love about myself, well I love that I’m unique because you can only find one of me in the whole entire world which makes me realise that I am valuable!
I love my desire to always listen to others problems, no matter how down I’m feeling – I feel like others can be helped so I try to!
I’ll blog and link back tonight!

Oh, and one thing I love about myself…I love that I fight so hard in this life, even though I tend to forget that most of the time. I am stronger that I think.

Happy first giveaway!
I love that I can keep my cool in stressful situations. I have a lot going on right now (wedding, home reno, moving) but I am very calm about it all! If I get the the point where I freak out, it becomes less fun. I love having fun, so keeping my cool is key!
It also helps that I’m a teacher – getting stressed out with 25 kids on board is not a good thing.
Linking you back girl!
I blogged about the giveaway!
What I love about myself is my spontaneity and fearlessness about trying new things!
I’ll link back to your giveaway the next time I post on my blog!
I love my hair. My middle eastern genes blessed me with dark curly locks that are also easy to straighten and basically do whatever I want them to. I used to hate my hair in middle school when it was frizzy and unmanageable but now that I can style it I love it!
great giveaway! congrats on your first one!
I love my love for mangos. Haha if that makes sense!!
What the fudge-popsicle Diana!!
I wake up in the middle of the night because I couldn’t sleep from all the FuN we had in Disney and I was like “oooh I’ll catch up with Diana’s blog” and now I’M CRYING!!! Not what I had anticipated…AT ALL. But greatly appreciated!
You’re right. We don’t tell one another enough how THANKFUL we are to have one another in each others lives. BUT I am SUPERCALAFRAGALISTICALLY thankful that I get to call YOU one of my BFF’s! You are one of the most caring, thoughtful and selfless people I know (except when it comes to food of course)! You tell it like it is and always know how to put a smile on my face! Turtle Time!
